Giant thanks - Eric from Tkinter import *Ĭ = Canvas(window, height = 300, width=400)īody=c.create_oval(100,150,300,250,fill='green')Įye=c.create_oval(170,70,230,130,fill='white')Įyeball=c.create_oval(190,90,210,110,fill='black') if you are installing python using anaconda/miniconda installer then following the guide here, you have to. GEANY is almost like IDE with features like plugins, syntax highlighting, etc. This text editor uses GTK+ toolkit to offer excellent environment for programming. How do I get Geany to show this script's graphics window correctly? GEANY is lightweight and simple text editor which is present in repositories of almost all the Linux distributions. and the graphics window created by the script does not appear! When I do this in Thonny IDE, the graphics window appears. Only Geany version 1.22+ supports these color schemes. Geany themes are just a set of color schemes that can be used on Geany IDE/text editor. but simply shows the script window proudly announcing that script completed. Geany is a stable, powerful and lightweight text editor that supports operating systems like Windows, Linux, and macOS. the only thing that I can make is to change (python)-> to (python3) because I was compiling and working with Python 3. but nothing, because Geany is a text editor. (2) When I run my simple graphics tkinter python script (pasted below) in Geany, with Tkinter capitalized since we are in 2.x. 2- I even searched for the settings to change the python interpreter in Geany. only when I changed it to Tkinter would it work, which I understand means it's running Python 2.x.

(1) How do I force it to use Python 3.x? I can tell that Geany is using Python 2.x and not 3.x because when I tried "import tkinter" it gave an error saying it couldn't find tkinter.

On my Pi that's now updated to a nice recent Raspbian, I am eager to start using the Geany editor for Python.
